Honoring Our Heritage

The Greek Families of Westminster, Maryland

About Tour

Beginning in the early 20th century, various families from Greece came to Westminster to begin a new life as immigrants. They operated hotels and restaurants and became a beloved part of the local community.

The Westminster Cemetery is the final resting place for many of these immigrants and their stories are told by Antigoni Lefteris Ladd in her edited book called Honoring Our Heritage: The Greek Families of Westminster, Maryland. With her permission, we have copied their stories and photos. For more information, be sure to look up Ms Ladd’s book at the Carroll County Public Library on their digital library and read more about the various Greek families of the region in Westminster.
